Belie's Bites
Gourmet Dog Delicacies
On April 23, 2009 we lost a friend and family member. TJ was one
of our cats. He was about 3 years old and was a shelter rescue.
Apparently he was hit by a car overnight. He made it into the yard
of a nearby home and he passed on. They found and buried him in
their beautiful flower garden. Word trickled through the neighbors
and I was approached. TJ had only been missing for about 24 hours
but it was obvious by the description that it was our boy.

TJ was one of a kind. Weighing in at 17 lbs. he was far from
overweight. Our vet described him as a "linebacker of a cat". We'd
intended him to be an indoor cat and was front de-clawed. He had
other ideas. After repeatedly catching him as he bolted outside and
talking with the vet, we let him outside last year. He was thrilled!
The world was his stage and he gave a great show! Neighbors loved
him. He hung out in all of their yards and rewarded us with shrews,
bunnies, and birds regularly. He would wait in the driveway for our
cars to pull up to the house or come running from wherever he'd
been visiting when we came home.

TJ had no fear and was known to lunge at dogs that were walking
their owners past our home. One night we even caught him
approaching an opossum that was trespassing in TJ's territory!

We all miss him very much. He was the kind of guy that you just
know will always be around... He was a snorer which forced me to
wear earplugs while he lay sprawled out in the middle of our bed or
on the dog's bed in our room. He and Belenos frequently napped
together. They were great friends and played together. One of TJ's
favorite games was to lay in wait for Belenos when they were
outside. When Belie came up the steps, the cat would jump him then
bounce away. I think his very favorite thing to do (other than nap
and be outside) was to knock things like pens, etc. off the table or
down the steps.

I know he's having a great time in Heaven. He's running the show,
I'm sure. Zac said he hoped Heaven has shrews for him to catch. I
replied that TJ probably sent them there... I miss him though. I find
myself looking for him during the day. I'm sure that will pass with
time but for now I have to remind myself what happened. I catch
myself watching for him to pass through the neighbor's yards or
come down the hall after his nap.

So, TJ, this page is for you. We miss you so very much. You were
one of a kind and completely irreplaceable. Love you, Little Big Man!
